The 243 meter long, 42966 dwt container ship MSC Alabama suffered a cargo shift near Valencia, Spain.   The MSC Alabama was proceeding to Valencia from Perama when several containers shifted in heavy seas.   No reports of injuries or damage to the vessel.   Reports state several containers fell overboard.

The 80 meter long, 1805 dwt freighter Danio went aground near Farne Island, United Kingdom.   The Danio was headed to Antwerp from Perth with a cargo of timber when it ran up onto the rocks.  The Seahouses RNLI lifeboat responded to the scene and found the Danio had suffered a one meter gash in the bow.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Attempts to refloat the vessel by a tug on the next high tide failed.  A Coastguard team has a pollution control team at the site to monitor the situation.  Reports state the Danio may remain aground for several weeks until the tidal conditions are right.

The 72 meter long, 500 dwt r0-ro ferry Nordfjord went aground onto the rocks near Rysjedalsvika, Norway.  The Nordfjord was approaching the dock during a dense snowstorm during the night and steered onto the rocks.   No reports of injuries to the four crew and one passenger on board.  All stayed on board overnight until the next day.  The ferry was pulled free and proceeded to Rysjedalsvika where divers found a hole in the bilge.   No reports of pollution released.
