The 72 meter long patrol boat Ejnar Mikkelsen went aground in the Julianehåb Fjord off Greenland.   The patrol boat had struck an uncharted reef after sailing around an iceberg.   The Ejnar Mikkelsen suffered significant hull damage requiring the vessel to be repaired in a shipyard.   No further details reported.

FINNFELLOW

The 188 meter long, 7885 dwt ro-ro ferry Finnfellow caught fire near Naantali, Finland.  The fire started when an air-conditioning system had overheated.  The crew was to extinguish the blaze and later ventilated the ferry’s decks.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   The Finnfellow was able to depart Naantali a few hours later bound for Kapellskärts.

MATHILDE_MAERSK

The 367 meter long, 116100 dwt container ship Mathilde Maersk suffered a fire in the Suez Canal.  The fire started in the vessel’s engine room and was quickly extinguished by the crew.   No reports of injuries or pollution released.   The fire disabled the container ship and a tug took the Mathilde Maersk under tow to the Great Bitter Lake.  There the vessel is at anchorage while the crew make repairs.   The Mathilde Maersk was headed to Algeciras, Spain from Malaysia.   The cause of the fire was not reported.
