The 37 meter long fishing vessel Jurie van den Berg collided with the 160 meter long, 13154 dwt offshore jack-up vessel Pacific Orca in the North Sea off the Wadden Islands, Netherlands.  The Pacific Orca was underway to an offshore windfarm while the Jurie van den Berg was returning to Eemshaven.  The fishing vessel sustained damage to its starboard hull along with its mast and boom.  The Pacific Orca had minor damage to its forepeak with dents and scratches above the waterline.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Both vessels were able to proceed back to port under their own power.

The 34 meter long guard vessel Karm Viking caught fire after two gas bottles exploded on board at Seljesanden, Norway.  The former fishing vessel had two crew on board when the fire alarm sounded and smoke erupted from below decks.  The men contacted the local fire brigade who got the fire under control, but not after the interior of the vessel was burned out.  The Karm Viking was later towed out into the fjord as concerns that the fire could reignite or other welding tanks on board would explode.  No reports of injuries.

The 38 foot long tugboat Sea Lion sank off Atlantic Beach, Long Island, New York.  The Sea Lion became swamped when it encountered six foot waves over its bow.  The Sea Lion was able to send out a mayday call, but the four crew on board were forced to quickly abandon ship and jump into the sea.  The Coast Guard along with other nearby vessels came to the crew’s aid.  Two crew were pulled from the water by the Coast Guard while the other two were rescued by a nearby vessel.  One crewman from the Sea Lion suffered serious injuries.   No reports of pollution released.  The Sea Lion was crossing New York Harbour at the time of the sinking.
