On August 7, 2014, the 50 meter long fishing vessel Lilly Johanne capsized off a quay in a shipyard in Çeliktrans near Istanbul, Turkey.  The Lilly Johanne was undergoing completion after being launched in January 2014 when it capsized onto its port side.  Booms were placed around the fishing vessel to contain any pollution released.  Reports state damage to be significant.  No reports of injuries.

The 85 meter long self-propelled tanker barge ran aground on the Elbe River near Hollerwettern, Germany.  The Marlene 2 was en route to Hamburg from Lauenburg when it was driven onto the shore near a popular beach area.   The water police responded to the scene and found the master of the vessel intoxicated.  Two tugs arrived later the same day and refloated the Marlene 2 on the following high tide.  No reports of damage or pollution released.  The Marlene 2 was towed to Glückstadt for further inspection.

The 114 meter long, 6050 dwt cargo vessel Abis Cadiz caught fire while berthed in Haifa, Israel.  The Abis Cadiz arrived in Haifa with a cargo of metal when a fire broke out in the cargo hold.  Local fire brigade responded to the scene and was able to extinguish the blaze a short time later.  One crewman was injured while evacuating the Abis Cadiz.  Damage was reported as being significant.
