CMA CGM Attila

The 335 meter long, 101473 dwt container ship CMA CGM Attila allided with the dock in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The CMA CGM Attila arrived from Seattle and was docking at the container terminal when it struck the pier.  The vessel suffered hull damage with a meter long hole to one of its ballast tanks amidships.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.  A pilot was on board and two tugs were assisting the CMA CGM Attila during the incident. The CMA CGM Attila was requested to be remain at port while an investigation into the incident is conducted.

On August 22, 2014, the 12 meter long fishing vessel Elluma collided with the 119 meter long, 8400 dwt cargo vessel Arklow Beach off Penmarch, France.  The Arklow Beach suffered only minimal damage and continued on to Dunkirk.  The Elluma sustained significant damage to its bow.  The captain of the Elluma also sustained injuries requiring a medical evacuation.   The Guilvinec SNSM lifeboat escorted the Elluma to Guilvinec where the vessel was later lifted out of the water.  No details reported to the cause of the collision. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On August 21, the 74 meter long ro-ro ferry Nordmøre ran aground while on its regular voyage between  Solholmen and Mordalsvågen. The ferry had touched bottom and service was suspended.  After an inspection by divers, the Nordmøre was redirected to a shipyard. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
