A construction barge sank in the Chicago River near the Randolph Street Bridge, Chicago. The barge was owned by a private construction firm being used for a private construction project. Witnesses state the barge seem to break-in-two  before sinking. No reports of injuries.

The 119 meter long, 3848 dwt general cargo vessel Welle ran aground on the Azov-Don Canal in the Don River delta. The Welle was en route from Rostov-on-Don to Icdas, Turkey with 2900 tons of scrap when it suffered failure in its steering gear.  The Welle was later refloated later the same day being assisted by a tug.  The Welle was towed to a nearby anchorage where the crew was to repair the steering. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 130 meter long general cargo vessel Gulf Rover ran aground on the VolgaCaspian Sea Canal near the 129 kilometer mark. The Gulf Rover was en route to Baku with 4427 tons of steel when it grounded in the fairway. A tug was requested and was able to refloat the vessel the following day. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state the water depth was less than reported in the fairway.
