The 71 meter long tanker Scan Master ran aground at Hemnskjela in Snillfjord, Norway. The Scan Master was en route to Averøy when strong winds and heavy seas pushed the tanker onto the rocky beach. No reports of injuries to the 6 crew on board, damage or pollution released.  Bad weather delayed the Scan Master to be refloated until conditions improved and favorable tide. The cause of the grounding was under investigation.

The 131 meter long, 8500 dwt cargo vessel Saint George allided with the lock gate on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Saint George was entering the northern lock when it suddenly increased speed.  The crew attempted to stop the vessel with an emergency anchoring, but both anchors were unable to stop the vessel from the striking the lock gate. The gate sustained serious damage making the lock inoperable. The Saint George’s bulbous bow was holed and the bow sustained a gash. No reports of injuries. The Saint George was detained by the water police pending an investigation.

Axios

The 184 meter long, 47781 dwt tanker Axios allided with the 183 meter long, 35966 dwt tanker Andreas in Eleusis Bay near Piraeus, Greece. The Axios was maneuvering when it struck the the bow of the Andreas. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Both vessels sustained slight damage.  Authorities detained both vessels to be surveyed.
