The 80 meter long, 1700 dwt fishing vessel Campolibre Alai caught fire while fishing in the Indian Ocean off the Seychelles. The fire started after an explosion in the vessel’s engine room.  The explosion caused severe damage including water ingress.  Disabled and ablaze, the crew requested assistance.  A nearby fishing vessel  was able to come to the Campolibre Alai aid.  All the crew on board the Campolibre Alai was rescued and were to being transported to Port Victoria, Seychelles.  One crewman sustained severe burns, but was stabilized.  Reports state the vessel was left partially submerged and adrift, before it finally sank.

The 295 meter long container ship MSC Manu ran aground on the Western Scheldt.  The MSC Manu was en route to Tilbury from Antwerp when it ran aground near buoy 64.  The boxship requested assistance with several tugs dispatched to the scene. The tugs were able to free the MSC Manu a few hours later.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The MSC Manu was able to proceed  on its scheduled voyage.

The 96 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Olympiada allided with a pier in Kerch, Russia. The Olympiada was arriving from its scheduled route from Kavkaz when it’s bow struck a pier. Five meters of the pier sustained damage.  The ferry’s starboard bow was dented causing additional damage to six vehicles aboard. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
