Collision in North Sea

HONG_KONG_EXPRESS

The 367 meter long, 142,018 dwt container ship Hong Kong Express collided with the 90 meter long, 3171 dwt cargo vessel BBS Sky off Hollum, Netherlands. Both vessels were proceeding in the same direction and one vessel touched the other while doing an overtaking maneuver.  The BBS Sky suffered only slight damage and the Hong Kong Express was undamaged. No reports of injuries or pollution.  Authorities were notified of the incident and the vessels were able to proceed on their voyages.

The 110 meter long river passenger ship Regina Rheni allided with a 70 meter long moored barge on the River Main at Bamberg, Germany. The starboard bow of Regina Rheni scraped against the barge damaging both vessels.  The Regina Rheni suffered a 8 meter long gash above the waterline while the barge suffered hull damage.  No reports of injuries to the 61 passengers and 41 crew on board.  Authorities allowed the Regina Rheni to proceed on to Würzburg, but a fine proceedings will be held against the master of the Regina Rheni.  Reports state the damage was estimated to be around 100000 Euros.

On October 21, the 92 meter long, 5107 dwt cargo vessel Seminole  allided with a berthed vessel on the Don River at Rostov-On-Don, Russia. The Seminole was entering the port from Samsun, Turkey being being assisted by a tug when it got to close to the moored vessels.  The port side hull of the Seminole scraped against one of the berthed vessels.  The Seminole’s hull was severely damage along with the superstructure being torn open.  No reports of injuries.
