The 114 meter long cargo vessel Volgobalt 229 ran aground on the Neva River, Russia. The Volgobalt 229 was en route to Lake Ladoga from St. Petersburg when it struck bottom. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The vessel was later released the following day and continued on its voyage.

On June 10, the 230 foot long replica of Noah’s Ark allided with the coast guard vessel Nornen in Oslo, Norway. The ark was being towed back into the harbor when it veered and struck the berthed Nornen. The Ark sustained a large hole in the hull above the waterline. Reports state the Nornen had sustained some damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 110 meter long self-propelled barge Singa ran aground on the Rhine near Basel, Switzerland. The Singa had suffered engine failure and went adrift before it ran onto an embankment. The Singa requested assistance and a few hours later a tug arrived on scene and refloated the barge. Both vessels proceeded to Basel. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
