The 104 meter long, 4244 dwt cargo vessel Papenburg allided with the lock in the Kiel Canal at Kiel, Germany. The Papenburg was en route to Rostock from Papenburg when it veered off course while entering the lock and struck the lock wall.  The cargo vessel sustained only slight damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The vessel was allowed to continue on its voyage later the same day.

The 83 meter long, 1920 dwt bitumen tanker Infinity 1 sprung a leak in the Indian Ocean while off Goa, India. The tanker had suffered water ingress and developed a list to starboard. Indian authorities dispatched a support team with a dewatering pump along with a tug from Goa. Reports state the tanker was taken under tow by the tug, escorted by Navy vessels and was proceeding to the port of Karwar. No reports of injuries.

The 40 meter long passenger vessel Insel Hiddensee allided with a quay in Neuendorf, Germany. The Insel Hiddensee was en route to Schaprode from Kloster when it approached the pier at Neuendorf. The vessel began to reverse it’s engines when it suffered a power blackout. Unable to slow down, the Insel Hiddensee struck the quay. The bow sustained several dents and the quay was damaged. Nine of the 130 passengers on board suffered slight injuries. They were later taken ashore with one proceeding to a hospital in Bergen. The remaining passengers were transferred to another ferry. No reports of pollution released. The water police launched an investigation and found the incident was due to a technical fault.  The Insel Hiddensee was later taken to Stralsund for repairs.
