North Sea Collision

The 228 meter long, 73334 dwt tanker Maistros collided with the anchored 183 meter long, 50215 dwt tanker Ridgebury Kathrine Z in the North Sea off Belgium. The Maistros was headed to Antwerp when it suffered a power blackout and struck the Ridgebury Kathrine Z. Both vessels sustained damage, but no reports of injuries. Reports state the Maistros dropped anchor nearby.

The fishing vessel Jin Gwo Dee Haw No. 1 caught fire while berthed in the harbour of Port Louis, Mauritius. The fire started during the early morning hours and quickly grew to engulf the vessel’s superstructure. No reports of injuries, but authorities had the fishing vessel towed out of the harbour. The National Coast Guard did not report the cause of the fire. An investigation has been launched by local authorities.

On September 16, the 190 meter long, 57200 dwt bulk carrier Sam Wolf ran aground near El Faro, Puerto Cortes, Honduras. The Sam Wolf was approaching Puerto Cortes when it was driven off course by strong currents and ran aground just offshore from the beach. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. No further details reported.
