CMA CGM Centaurus

On May 4, the 364 meter long, 128,550 dwt container ship allided with quay at the Jebel Ali container terminal in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The CMA CGM Centaurus was attempting to berth when it’s starboard bow struck the quay. The vessel hit a leg of a gantry crane causing it to collapse and another crane was pushed off its tracks. Ten people were injured during the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On May 3, the 158 meter long, 47290 dwt bulk carrier Hongwei 618 became disabled off Shidao, China. The bulk carrier had suffered engine failure and went adrift. The vessel contacted the authorities who dispatched the Bei Hai Jiu 118 to the scene. The Bei Hai Jiu 118 was attached a towline to the Hongwei 618 and proceeded to an anchorage off Shidao. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 34 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Ijveer 60 allided with a pole at Amsterdam, Netherlands. The ferry was arriving from Buiksloter Way when it struck a pole next to the jetty outside the main terminal in Amsterdam. Two people on board suffered minor injuries.

Local authorities launched an investigation into the incident. No reports of pollution released.
