Nearchos

The 87 meter long, 750 dwt ro-ro passenger ferry Nearchos ran aground on the islet of Nea Kameni off Santorini, Greece. The Nearchos was underway with 13 crew and five passengers along with their 5 lorries bound to Thira from Mykonos when it ran ashore on the islet.  The ro-ro ferry sustained damage to its hull along the portside of the foreship.

The vessel contacted authorities who dispatched several vessels to the scene along with divers to inspect the hull.  The Greek Coast Guard deployed booms around the ferry to contain any pollution that may be released.  Reports state the passengers were safely evacuated.

 

Filyoz

Filyoz

The 105 meter long, 5701 dwt tanker Filyoz ran aground on the Uruguay River near Concepción del Uruguay, Argentina. The Filyoz had departed from La Plata when it had veered off the main fairway and ran aground. Tugs were dispatched to free the tanker and were to arrive on scene a few days later. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 77 foot long fishing vessel AMG ran aground along Ormond Beach, Florida.  The shrimping vessel had been at anchor when its anchor line parted and drifted ashore. No reports of injuries.  The crew attempted to refloat the vessel, but the AMG couldn’t pass over the sandbar.  A tug was dispatched from Jacksonville to help free the vessel.
