The 186 meter long self-propelled barge Rhenus Duisburg allided with a bridge on the New Maas at Rotterdam, Netherlands. The vessel was en route to Wallersheim from Duisburg when it lost control due the current and wind. The barge had even tried to reverse engines, but the vessel continued towards the Willems Bridge.  As the barge passed underneath, several containers on board the Rhenus Duisburg struck the bridge and went overboard.  All the containers were later recovered from the river. An inspection found neither the barge or the bridge sustained significant damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
