On September 9, the 118 meter long, 3721 dwt cargo vessel Sormovskiy 3063 (IMO: 8702240) became disabled on the Dardanelles off the coast of Kepez, Turkey. The Sormovskiy 3063 was en route to Russia from Mersin when it suffered a breakdown and main engine failure. Authorities dispatched the tugs Kurtarma 13 and Türkeli to assist. The tugs took the Sormovskiy 3063  under tow and proceeded to an anchorage off Çanakkale.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On September 8, the 171 meter long, 34,656 dwt tanker Anwaar Afriqya (IMO: 9275268) became disabled on the Dardanelles off Kepez, Turkey. The Anwaar Afriqya was enroute to Tuzia from Tripoli when it suffered engine failure and power blackout. Authorities dispatched the tug Kurtarma 4 which took the tanker under tow. The vessels proceeded to the anchorage off Çanakkale. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Knidos

On September 9, the 129 meter long, 8650 dwt cargo vessel Knidos (IMO: 9214173) collided with the 169 meter long, 28,396 dwt bulk carrier Nadeen (IMO: 9324710) in the Persian Gulf off the coast of Iran. The Knidos was enroute to the port of Mina Saqr from Dammam, Saudi Arabia when it was struck by the Nadeen in the starboard stern quarter of the hull. The Knidos suffered uncontrolled water ingress in the vessel’s engine room. The crew unable to stop the flooding abandoned ship in the Knidos‘s life raft. All 13 crew were rescued from the raft and taken aboard the Nadeen. No reports of injuries.

Nadeen

Unconfirmed reports state the Knidos capsized and sank after the collision. No details reported if any damage on the Nadeen. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
