The 143 meter long, 12,135 dwt heavy lift vessel Yu Zhou Qi Hang has been driven ashore some 2.4 miles north of Yeliu Cape, Taiwan by Super Typhoon Kong-Rey. Reports state the vessel has sustained significant hull damage and one of the heavy gantry cranes has collapsed onto the shoreline. Authorities are monitoring pollution as the Yu Zhou Qi Hang had some 247 tons of heavy oil fuel and 37 tons of light oil in its fuel tanks. Authorities have placed booms around the entrances to harbors of Dongao, Yehliu and Guikong.

News reports state the vessel had lost engine power shortly after leaving Keelung which had not been initially reported.

On October 31 the 104 meter long, 6647 dwt cargo vessel FG Sevil (IMO: 9548665) caught fire off Sedef Island in the Marmara Sea. The FG Sevil was en route to Bulgaria from Yalova when a fire broke out in the engine room. The vessel requested assistance with the KEGM rescue boat with multiple tugboats responding. The tugboats were able to help extinguish the blaze a few hours later. The tugs then proceeded to take disabled FG Sevil under tow to a nearby anchorage. Reports state the engine room sustained significant damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

On the night of October 30, the 112 meter long, 7538 dwt tanker Global Lake (IMO: 9427469) became disabled on the Çanakkale Strait off Akbaş, Turkey. The Global Lake was headed to Aliağa from Samsun in ballast when it suffered main engine failure. Unable to restart the engine, the tanker requested assistance. Authorities dispatched a tug which took the Global Lake under tow and proceeded to an anchorage. Reports state the vessel was able to make repairs with help of authorities. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
