On the evening of November 23, the 14 meter long, 19 gt towboat Shoei Maru collided with the 230 meter long, 81,043 dwt bulk carrier Yiannis N. G. (IMO: 9701308) in Osaka Bay near Kobe, Japan. Reports state the Yiannis N. G. had struck the Shoei Maru causing the towboat to capsize.  The Japan Coast Guard and the local fire department launched a search and rescue operation looking for the three crew of the Shoei Maru. One of the crew was found conscious in the water. He would be rescued and later taken to hospital.  Reports state another of the crew was found trapped in the overturned vessel. A search for the missing crew person is still ongoing.

Reports state there was no report of injuries to the 21 crew of the Yiannis N. G. and there was no damage to the bulk carrier. Authorities state they have launched an investigation into the incident.

On November 23, the 222.5 meter long, 28471 dwt bulk carrier Tim S. Dool (IMO: 6800919) ran aground on the St. Lawrence River near Morrisburg, Ontario. The Tim S. Dool was headed for Quebec City loaded with grain when it stranded on the Crysler Island Shoal. The bow is firmly on the shoal and the bulk carrier developed a slight list to port. No reports of injuries.

Reports state the Tim S. Dool will be pulled free by tugs. The cause of the incident has not reported.

On the morning of November 23, the 190 meter long, 56569 dwt bulk carrier Kiran America (IMO: 9491264) became disabled on the Bosphorus Strait off Kanlıca, Turkey. Various conflicting reports state the Kiran America had either suffered rudder failure or had gone adrift due to strong winds by a storm. The result was the bulk carrier found itself just meters from the shoreline and aground. Reports state the vessel was able to make a last minute maneuver and avoided stranding.

Authorities dispatched tugboats to assist the Kiran America.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
