Allision in Hong Kong

On the evening of March 1, the 364 meter long, 138611 dwt container ship One Columba allided with the 347 meter long, 110387 dwt container ship Clifford Maersk (IMO: 9198575) at the Kwai Tsing Container Terminal in Hong Kong, China. The One Columba was proceeding to berth from a voyage from Shenzhen Chiwan when it struck the berthed Clifford Maersk. The Clifford Maersk sustained minor damage with 3 containers falling overboard into the water. The containers would be later retrieved. Reports state there was only minor/slight damage to the One Columba, but no details were provided.
Authorities dispatched a response team to the scene and the incident is under investigation. News reports state the One Columba may have lost power prior to the incident. The container ship may have conducted an emergency maneuver by dropping its anchor. No details were provided if any tugs were assisting the One Columba during the incident.
Authorities did state there were no injuries on either vessel and no pollution was released. The One Columba was lasted reported at a nearby anchorage while the investigation is being conducted.
