Collision off Poortugaal
On the night of April 13, the 150 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Chimo (MMSI: 244130477) and collided with the 135 meter long self-propelled container barge New Jersey (MMSI: 244927482) on the Oude Maas near Poortugaal, Netherlands.
The two vessel struck head-on with the Chimo sustained a large hole torn in its hull above the waterline. The New Jersey also sustained significant damage to its port side of its bow above the water line. There were no injuries reported on either vessel. Reports stated the New Jersey was able to proceed under its own power to a shipyard in Dordrecht for repairs.
