On the afternoon of April 14, the 22 meter long pusher tug Niels (MMSI: 244710345) became disabled on the Julianakanaal near Urmond, Netherlands. Authorities found the Niels wheelhouse had collapsed injuring the person inside. The local fire brigade was able to safely remove the man from the vessel and taken ashore. He would be later taken to hospital for treatment.

An investigation found that a support cable had broken causing the upper part of the wheelhouse to collapse. Reports state authorities had completed its investigation into this incident.
On April 13, the 50 foot fishing vessel Miss Montie ran aground on the Atlantic Ocean near Beverly Beach, Florida. The shrimp boat had suffered engine failure and was unable to proceed under its owner power. A nearby fishing vessel attempted to take the Miss Montie under tow, but the vessel was underpowered and had to drop the tow.
The Miss Montie requested assistance from the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard dispatched a rescue boat to assist. The Coast Guard arrived on site and safely transferred the 2 crew and the vessel’s dog off the Miss Montie. The Coast Guard refused to take the fishing vessel under tow citing that conditions were too dangerous to take the shrimp boat under tow.

The Miss Montie was left to drift unmanned for several hours until it washed ashore. Reports state the master of the Miss Montie has hired a fishing vessel to pull the shrimp boat free. The Coast Guard was monitoring the area for any signs of pollution released. Reports state the Miss Montie will require repairs to its propeller.
On the night of April 10, the 289 meter long powership KPS Orphan Ali Khan (IMO: 9248514) ran aground in the Sea of Marmara within the Yalova Anchorage Field. The powership was en route from Altinova to Yalova when it ran aground. Authorities dispatched the tugs Nen Hatun (IMO: 9675004) and Şark (MMSI: 271043518) aided by a KEGM lifeboat, divers and salvage experts. Reports state there were no injuries, but no further details were provided.
The KPS Orphan Ali Khan is one of the largest power generation vessels afloat. Originally a capsize bulk carrier, the vessel was purchased to be converted to power generation in 2015.
