On the night of October 4, reports state a South Korean oil tanker (undisclosed) collided with a Vietnamese fishing vessel BD 83019-TS in the South China Sea some 30 kilometers off the Ca Na estuary. Ten of the 11 crew on the fishing vessel were rescued by a nearby fishing vessel. The missing crew member, the captain of the BD 83019-TS, was reported to be trapped in his cabin when the vessel sank. 

The rescued crew were later taken ashore to Ca Na. Authorities stated the incident occurred during poor visibility. The tanker continued on its voyage after the collision. A few days later divers were hired to search the sunken BD 83019-TS which was found under 60 meters of water. The search found the body of the captain which was later recovered. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

On the evening of September 29, the 17 meter long former pilot boat NS Sea Dagger (MMSI: 257367500) sank in the North Sea 70 miles west of the island of Sylt, Germany. Reports state the vessel had run into trouble causing the vessel to sink near an offshore wind farm.  The 2 crew members on the NS Sea Dagger sent out a distress call with a nearby vessel able to rescue them before the vessel sank. Authorities state several containers holding fuel had fallen overboard into the sea. A tug was dispatched to recover the fuel containers.  No reports of injuries. The cause of sinking was not disclosed.
