Ardatov

The 94 meter long fish-factory vessel Ardatov caught fire in the Sea of Japan near Primorye, Russia.  The crew of 53 on board were able to extinguish the blaze, but it left the vessel disabled without power.  A tug was dispatched to the scene to take the Ardatov under tow. No one was injuried and no pollution was released.

Aqua Hercules

The 192 meter long, 18718 dwt ro-ro ferry Aqua Hercules became disabled off Igoumentsia, Greece.  The ferry was en route to Bari, Italy with 207 passengers when the vessel suffered engine failure.   The ferry was able to reach Igoumentsia under its own power where it safely unloaded passengers and vehicles.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   Reports state the Aqua Hercules will undergo repairs at Igoumentsia and inspection later.

Anna Krieger

The 105 meter long, 2040 ton self-propelled barge Anna Krieger suffered a fire in its engine room while carrying a load of scrap metal on the Neckar River near Pleutersbach, Germany.  The four crewmen made several attempts before they were able to extinguish fire.  The master of the Anna Krieger was able to steer the vessel to the nearby river bank.   The local authorities responded sending rescue boats from the nearby fire departments of Eberbach and Hirschhorn.  All four men were safely taken ashore as they were had suffered injuries from smoke inhalation.   The men were later taken to hospital for treatment.   The Anna Krieger was later towed to Eberbach.  The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.
