On July 12, the 209 meter long, 10320 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Abu Samrah (IMO: 9925655) went adrift in the Gulf of Izmir off Alsancak, Turkey. The Abu Samrah had broke away from its berth during a storm. The tugs Kurtarma 1 and Poyraz were dispatched and quickly got the ro-ro back to its mooring. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Aroyat

On July 6, the 148 meter long, 18315 dwt bulk carrier Aroyat (IMO: 9151395) allided with the canal wall in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Aroyat was enroute to Beira from Kaliningrad when it struck the center canal wall on the north lock at Brunsbüttel. No reports of injuries or pollution released. Reports state the Aroyat was allowed to proceed an hour later under its own power.

 

Asiatic Sun

On December 26, 2021,  the 143 meter long, 12774 dwt container ship Asiatic Sun allided with the pier at Taichung Port, Taiwan. The Asiatic Sun was attempting to berth at Taichung after a voyage from Taipei when its bow struck the pier. The bow of the Asiatic Sun was heavily damaged. Some 7 meters of the pier was damaged or destroyed by the allision.

No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Maritime Port Bureau and the Ministry of Transport have launched an investigation into the incident. Reports state there were strong winds in the area at the time.
