Disabled off Yeongdo-gu

On the morning of October 12, a 9.7 ton fishing vessel (name not disclosed) became disabled off Jodo, Yeongdo-gu, Busan, South Korea. The vessel had departed Mallak with 2 crew and 20 passengers while fishing 1 kilometers east of Jodo when it suffered failure with the engine transmission and went adrift. The vessel contacted the Coast Guard who dispatched a vessel to assist. The Busan Coast Guard arrived a short time later and took the fishing vessel under tow to Yeongdo-gu.  The vessel secured a tugboat which then took the fishing vessel under tow back to the port of Mallak. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. The Coast Guard has launched an investigation into the incident.

Didim Fatsa

On the morning of September 19, the 67 meter long, 621 dwt cargo vessel Didim Fatsa (IMO: 8212336) became disabled in the Dardanelles Strait off Gocuk Burnu, Turkey. The Didim Fatsa was en route from Aliağa to Bandırma when it suffered engine failure in the strait. The cargo vessel requested assistance with the KEGM dispatching a tug to assist.  The tug took the Didim Fatsa under tow and proceeded to the Şevketiye Anchorage where it safely anchored. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

 

 

Day Blue

On the early morning of September 16, the 89 meter long, 4705 dwt cargo vessel Day Blue (IMO: 9184811) became disabled on the Dardanelles Strait off the coast of Karanfil Burnu, Turkey. The Day Blue was headed to Italy from Kocaeli when it experienced a mechanical breakdown in the strait. Authorities dispatched the KEGM tugboat Türkeli to assist.  The tugboat took the Day Blue under tow and proceeded to Karanlık Liman where it safely anchored.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
