The 110 meter long self-propelled barge Goudvis 2 caught fire on the Outer Maas near Barendrecht, Netherlands. The fire started in the vessel’s engine room which disabled the Goudvis 2.  The barge drifted until it ran aground off Koedoodse. The crew requested assistance with another barge, fire boat and KNRM lifeboat arriving on scene. Local firefighters were transferred onto the Goudvis 2 and the fire was extinguished within an hour.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

Good Grief

The 36 foot long fishing vessel Good Grief caught fire  in Rands Harbor, North Falmouth, Massachusetts. The fishing vessel caught fire during the early morning which quickly engulfed the entire vessel along with a nearby 24 foot vessel.  Firefighters arrived on scene and were able to extinguished the blaze on the Good Grief, but the nearby smaller vessel sank.  No reports of injuries. Authorities have closed the area to shellfishing while there is an investigation into any pollution released.  An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Glory Pacific No. 8

The 1163 dwt fishing vessel Glory Pacific No. 8 caught fire near the atoll of Tokelau, New Zealand.  The fire started in the engine room quickly disabling the fishing vessel. The crew activated the ERIPB emergency beacon alerting authorities.  New Zealand authorities directed another fishing vessel, Lomalo, to the scene.  All 36 crew from the Glory Pacific No. 8 were safely evacuated.  The crew was assisted by New Zealand and US Coast Guard efforts. Reports state the owners of the Glory Pacific No. 8 were making salvage arrangements.
