On January 14, the 90 meter long self-propelled barge Isabel caught fire after an explosion while berthed at Dordrecht, Netherlands.  The vessel was to undergo an inspection when an explosion occurred in a technical space resulting in a fire.  The local fire brigade was alerted and were able to quickly bring the fire under control. No reports of injuries.

 

Issehoved

The 22 meter long catamaran passenger ferry Issehoved allided with a quay at Aarhus, Denmark. The Issehoved was approaching the quay when it struck at the bow.  None of the 50 passengers were injured, but the vessel’s bow sustained damage. The Issehoved was towed to a dock and passengers were transferred to another ferry.  Reports state the vessel resumed it schedule the next day.

Inzhener Nazarov

On April 20, the 132 meter long, 4700 dwt tanker Inzhener Nazarov became stuck in the ice on the Volga River in the Saratov Reservoir, Russia. The Inzhener Nazarov was en route to Samara from Azov when it became stuck in heavy ice.  Unable to free itself, the vessel requested assistance. An icebreaker was dispatched from Rosmorport to break free the tanker. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
