Ironton Ferry Fire

The 50 foot long four-car cable ferry Ironton Ferry caught fire while moored in Ironton, Michigan on Lake Charlevoix.  The fire started in one of the vehicles on the deck.  The fire was extinguished a short time later by the local fire department.  No reports of injuries to passengers or crew on board.  The Ironton ferry operates between mid-April through mid-November making  upwards of 100 trips across Lake Charlevoix each day.

Ibrahim Bey

On May 5, the 108 meter long, 7868 dwt bulk carrier Ibrahim Bey became disabled off Rhodes, Greece. The Ibrahim Bey was en route to Istanbul from Damietta when it suffered engine failure. The vessel was last reported anchored off Rhodes.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

INS Sindhughosh

On the night of February 19, the 238 foot long Indian Navy Submarine Sindhughosh collided with a fishing boat off the coast of Mumbai, India. The INS Sindhughosh was involved in an exercise where the submarine was submerged in pitch black conditions.  With its periscope up, the INS Sindhughosh was struck by a passing fishing vessel. No reports of injuries. The periscope sustained slight damage and the INS Sindhughosh returned to Mumbai for repairs.  No details reported on damage to the fishing vessel.
