On the evening of November 25, the fishing vessel KH 91580 TS became disabled in the South China Sea near Thuyen Chai Island (Barque Canada Reef) in the Truong Sa district, Vietnam. The KH 91580 TS had its steering broken and was unable to maneuver.  Vietnamese authorities dispatched a vessel which was able to connect a towline to the KH 91580 TS.  The vessels then proceeded to the dock at Thuyen Chai Island.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On the afternoon of November 21, the 21 meter long catamaran ferry Katie Underwood (MMSI: 367142510) allided  in Doboy Sound at the Sapelo Island, Georgia. The Katie Underwood was attempting to land at the Marsh Landing when the vessel struck the dock. Fortunately, there were no injuries to the 41 persons on board. State authorities notified the United States Coast Guard who has launched an investigation into the incident. Reports state the ferry was taken out of service until investigation and inspections are completed. The extent of damage and the cause of the allision was not disclosed.

 

KMP Cemerlang No. 55

On November 12, the 39 meter long, 553 gt ro-ro passenger ferry KMP Cemerlang No. 55 (IMO: 8032334)  became disabled in the Bali Strait some 1.8 nautical miles from Gilimanuk, Bali, Indonesia. The ferry was on its regular route between Ketapang to Gilimanuk with 56 passengers and 13 crew members when it suffered a mechanical breakdown. Authorities were alerted who dispatched a rescue team from Gilimanuk. Aided by multiple vessels from other agencies, the passengers were evacuated within an hour and safely transported to shore. Reports state the KMP Cemerlang No. 55 was assisted to the jetty in Gilimanuk where it unloaded the vehicles on board.  No reports of damage or pollution released.
