Kompozitor Rakhmaninov

The 126 meter long, 4673 dwt ro-ro cargo vessel Kompozitor Rakhmaninov was reported to be aground on the Volga-Caspian Sea Canal on June 4. The cargo vessel had struck bottom near the 132 kilometer mark on the canal. The Kompozitor Rakhmaninov was able to be refloated a short time later and proceeded on its voyage to Anzali, Iran. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On March 17, the 40 meter long fishing vessel Kvalstein became disabled off Finnmark, Norway.  The Kvalstein had suffered engine failure some 300 miles off the coast.  With waves reaching eight meters, the trawler sent out a request for assistance.  Authorities dispatched a patrol boat to the scene.  The following day the patrol boat after some difficulty was able to connect a towline to the Kvalstein and both vessels proceeded back to port. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 42 meter long fishing vessel Kristin – GK 457 became disabled off Látrabjarg, Iceland.  The trawler had suffered engine failure and went adrift. The Icelandic Coast Guard vessel Thor was dispatched to assist.  The Thor was able to attach a towline and both vessels proceeded to Reykjavik.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
