Locked In

The 123 meter long, 8280 dwt chemical tanker Med Arctic allided with the gate in the middle lock of the North Sea Lock complex at Ijmuiden, Netherlands.  The lock suffered significant damage requiring the inner gate to be replaced and the lock to be closed for a week.  Authorities have detained the Med Arctic which remains inside the middle lock.  Traffic through the complex has been redirected to another lock.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Lisa Disabled

The 110 meter long, 4179 dwt freighter Lisa became disabled while crossing the Bosphorus Strait.  The Lisa contacted Traffic Control Center who dispatched a tug to the scene.  The freighter was taken under tow to Gebze.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Lenaneft 2066 Aground

The 122 meter long, 3100 dwt tanker Lenaneft-2066 went aground on a sandbar on the Amur River near the 573 kilometer mark.  The tanker was unable to free itself and salvage has been scheduled.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
