The 206 foot motor vessel Mystic capsized and sank near Damas Cay, Bahamas. The vessel requested assistance after it had struct a submerged object resulting in water ingress into the vessel. The crew attempted to pump out the water, but the rate of water ingress was too much. The 10 member crew abandoned the vessel into liferafts when the vessel was close to capsizing. All 10 crew onboard were rescued and reported safe. Reports state pollution is likely to be released from the 8000 gallons of diesel fuel onboard the Mystic when it sank.

Mainland Vessel Fire

A mainland (China) vessel caught fire at the Yau Ma Tei typhoon shelter, Hong Kong, China. The fire injured 18 people (12 firemen, 6 sailors). The vessel was carrying a cargo of hardware waste (maybe paper and iron) from Guangzhou, Guangdong, China.

M/V Hummer-H1

M/V Hummer-H1 ran aground off Calatagan, Batangas, Philippines. The cargo vessel was carrying 1,119 crates of plywood. The vessel’s captain, Marcelino Medado, requested assistance from the Phlippine Coast Guard. Vessel suffered damage with cracks along the bow. No pollution was sighted around the vessel.
