The 59 meter long, 1769 dwt supply vessel Nand Heera allided with the bascule bridge at Indira Docks, Mumbai, India. The Nand Heera was waiting to pass through a lock gate when it lurched forward and struck the bridge. The bridge sustained some damage and the vessel was detained by authorities. The 141 meter long, 2651 dwt passenger ship Nissos Mykonos suffered a fire in the Aegean Sea near Karlovassi, Greece. The Nissos Mykonos had left Piraeus with 174 passengers and 74 crew bound for Samos with other stops at several islands. The fire started in the vessel’s smokestack releasing thick black smoke. The crew was able to extinguish the blaze. Five passengers were evacuated from the vessel after suffering from smoke inhalation. The remaining passengers were transferred to another ferry.
