The 90 meter long, 4033 dwt freighter Nordic Chantal allided with the lock on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbuettel, Germany. The freighter suffered significant damage along with the lock gate. The Nordic Chantal proceeded to berth to Brunsbuettel awaiting inspection. No reports of injuries or pollution being released. The Nordic Chantal was bound for Hallstavik from Antwerp before incident. The water police has launched an investigation into the incident.
Norwegian Star
The 294 meter long, 7500 dwt cruise ship Norwegian Star allided with Pier 86 at New York, New York. The Norwegian Star was attempting to dock at its berth at Pier 88 when heavy winds cause the vessel to drift off course. The crew attempted to reverse course, but the Norwegian Star struck amidships against Pier 86. The pier suffered minimal damage and no reports of damage to the vessel. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
New Lucky VII Lost

The 94 meter long, 6500 dwt freighter New Lucky VII went missing in the East China Sea near Amami Oshima, Japan. The vessel with 17 crew on board was headed to China from Papua New Guinea with a cargo of lumber when it encountered a severe storm. When authorities lost contact with the vessel, a search and rescue mission was launched by the Japanese Coast Guard. Aircraft spotted a life raft with nine survivors and a lifeboat with two people on board. All 11 crewmen were reported to be in good shape. Aircraft also spotted multiple oil slicks near where the vessel sank.
