The 187 meter long self-propelled barge GMS Odeon along with the barge SL Elly ran aground on the Danube River near 2277 kilometer mark.   The vessels were en route to Linz from Rotterdam with 3300 tons of iron ore when the rudder system failed.   The connection ropes between the vessels broke allowing the SL Elly to run aground on a shoal.   The Odeon secured its position to the bank due to the strong current.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
