Osa

The 84 meter long, 2507 dwt freighter Osa went aground on the Kiel Canal.  A tug was able to refloat the Osa later the same day.   The vessel proceeded to Kiel where it was inspected.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.   The Osa continued on its voyage from Brake to Koge a few hours later.   The cause of the accident was navigational error.

Otuangaofa

The 53 meter long passenger ship Otuangaofa allided with the moored 400 dwt freighter Sitka at Nuku’alofa, Tonga.   The Otuangaofa was attempting to dock when it struck the Sitka twice!  The Sitka suffered damage to its bow with estimates place the damage at more than $50,000 US.   The Otuangaofa with 500 passengers on board was able to dock with no injuries reported.  Reports state the passenger ship has been taken out of service.

Ocean Breeze

The 128 meter long, 12048 dwt freighter Ocean Breeze became disabled in the Dardanelles near Canakkale, Turkey.  The freighter had suffered an engine failure and sent out a distress call.  A tug was dispatched and took the Ocean Breeze under tow to a nearby berth for repairs.  The Ocean Breeze was in ballast en route  to Tuapse from Nemrut.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.
