On the evening of November 15, the 38 meter long, 147 dwt catamaran passenger ferry Princ Zadra (IMO: 8822363) ran aground in the Adriatic Sea off the island of Premuda, Croatia. The Princ Zadra, loaded with 70 passengers, was running its route from Zadar and the offshore islands of Premuda, Silba and Olib when it ran up onto rocks off Premuda. The vessel requested assistance as the catamaran was hard aground at the bow.

Authorities from Zadar arrived on scene and found all 70 passengers were uninjured and began evacuation. Passengers were transferred to private boats and the passenger ship Vladimir Nazor which had been diverted to the area to assist in the evacuation. No reports of injuries to crew or passengers.

The following day the Princ Zadra was pushed by strong winds and slipped off the rocks. With extensive hull damage the ferry quickly flooded and sank by the stern. The vessel now rests under 50 meters of water. There has been no reports of pollution so far. Reports do state authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

 

Pashur Channel Collision

Around midnight of November 1, the 100 meter long, 5187 dwt LPG tanker Era Star (IMO: 9988061) collided with the cargo vessel Mizan in the Pashur Channel near Bagerhat, Bangladesh. The Era Star loaded with LPG struck head-on with the Mizan loaded with 500 tons of coal. While no major damage was reported on the Era Star, the Mizan sustained significant hull damage to its bow resulting in water ingress. The eight crew of the Mizan feared the vessel was going to sink and abandoned ship into the water. Reports state all eight were able to make it ashore. No reports of injuries on the Era Star.

Authorities report a nearby fishing vessel had been caught up in the collision and sank. The sole person on board the vessel was reported missing.  The Bangladesh Coast Guard conducted a search and rescue operation for the missing person.  A diving team has also done searches in the area.

Reports state the owner of the Mizan has started lightering the coal onto another vessel. No further details reported.

Princesse Jessica

On the night of October 15, the 77 meter long cargo vessel Princesse Jessica (MMSI: 671396100) capsized and sank while moored at the port of Dakar, Senegal. The Princesse Jessica had been moored at Pier 2 with a minimal crew on board when the 190 meter long, 56894 dwt bulk carrier Zografia (IMO: 9486013) had arrived in Dakar with its cargo of sugar. The Zografia was maneuvering to berth at the nearby Pier 3 when it allided with the Princesse Jessica.  The Princesse Jessica sustained severe damage on its port side with a hull breach below the waterline. With only three crew, two mechanics and a cook, on board, there was a limited response to contain the flooding. The three crew safely abandoned ship as the cargo vessel quickly listed over to port and rolled over and sank leaving just part of the starboard hull above water.  The Zografia sustained only minor damage. No reports of injuries on either vessel.

Authorities arrived on scene and secured the area.  They report the incident has had minimal impact on traffic and activities in the port.

Reports also state the Princesse Jessica had been berthed in Dakar for over 5 months and currently has no flag. Authorities state the vessel has changed flags and names several time since it was built in 1990. It has been sailing under the Princesse Jessica since May 2023 and it dropped from Togolese registry.
