Straitsman Disabled

The 125 meter long, 4168 dwt passenger ship Straitsman became disabled in the Marlborough Sounds with 50 passengers on board.  The Straitsman had suffered mechanical failure when its fuel pump failed.   The vessel remained at anchor for two hours until repairs could be completed by the crew.   The passenger ship continued on to Wellington.    No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Sarina Aground

Vessel formerly known as the Iran Sahar and Hammonia

The 2876 dwt freighter Sarina went aground on the Volga-Caspian Canal.   The Sarina became stuck in the canal and swung across the canal blocking traffic.   Reports state the vessel has not sustain any damage and no pollution released.   However, the Sarina is unable to free itself and will need assistance.   The freighter was heading for the port of Olya, Russia before the incident.

Sunny Partner

The 152,329 dwt freighter Sunny Partner ran aground in the Dempo Straits near Batam, Indonesia.  The 28 crewmen on board were safely rescued by the Indonesian Coast Guard Patrol vessel.   The Sunny Partner was loaded with bauxite from Dabo, Indonesia to China.   No additional information reported.
