Schall Disabled

The  50 meter long vessel Schall suffered problems with the cool water system while on the Wester-Ems.   The vessel had to be stopped by an emergency anchoring.  The Schall was taken under tow and brought to the port of Borkum, Germany.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

Schooner Aground

The 88 foot long, two-masted schooner Wendameen went aground near Fort Gorges at the entrance to the harbor of Portland, Maine.  The vessel with 23 passengers and 4 crew were safely transferred and were taken to the Maine State Pier.  The Wendameen refloated with the next high tide and proceeded to the Maine State Pier.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.   The Coast Guard is conducting an investigation into the incident.

Sterlet Aground

The 66.87 meter long freighter Sterlet sailing from Budapest ran aground on the Danube River near the 1669 kilometer mark.   The Sterlet had veered out of the shipping lanes when it became stuck.   No further details reported.
