Stena Scanrail Allision

The 6726 dwt ferry Stena Scanrail made a hard landing at Frederikshavn, Denmark.  The ferry allided with the quay with enough force to suffer two holes in the hull.   The holes were above the waterline and were quickly repaired by welding steel plates over the holes.  The Stena Scanrail was allowed to proceed to Gothenburg.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Sormovskiy 3055

The 3804 dwt freighter Sormovskiy 3055 went aground on the Volga River near 2882 kilometer mark.   The Sormovskiy 3055 had left Italy bound for Astrakhan with general cargo.   The vessel was refloated with the assistance of a tug the same day.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.

Sveanord Avoids Sinking

The 60 meter long gravel vessel Sveanord became disabled when a leak developed in the hull while off  Dyrøya, Norway.   The vessel quickly took on water into the engine room shutting down the main engine.   The crew requested assistance and 2 Navy vessels quickly responded.   One Navy vessel towed the Sveanord closer to land.   Additional rescue boats arrived on scene and were able to get the water ingress under control.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
