On December 1, the 85 meter long, 3737 dwt cargo vessel Sea Aries (IMO: 9297125) became disabled at the northern entrance to the Bosphorus Strait near Poyrazköy, Turkey. The Sea Aries was headed to Bandirma from Russia when it suffered machine failure and went adrift. The KEGM was alerted and dispatched the 32 meter long, 197 dwt tugboat Kurtarma-12 (IMO: 9854404) and tugboat Kurtarma-21 (MMSI: 271053647) to the scene. The cargo vessel was taken under tow and proceeded to the anchorage at Ahırkapı. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.
Sinking off Ham Luong Estuary

On the early morning of November 27, a fishing vessel (name not disclosed) sank in the East Vietnam Sea near the mouth of the Ham Luong River off Bến Tre, Vietnam. The fishing vessel had sunk after being struck by large waves and strong winds. The two crew on board jumped into the sea as the vessel sank beneath them. Vietnamese authorities received reports of the vessel being in distress and mobilized a board patrol vessel to the scene. After 4 hours in the sea, authorities would rescue the 2 crew members. They were taken ashore and reported to be in stable condition.
Sema III
On November 7, the 25.5 meter long tugboat Sema III (IMO: 8858441) sprung a leak in the Bight of Bonny approximately 30 nautical miles off the coast of Mbo, Nigeria. The Sema III was headed to Calabar from Malabo, Equatorial Guinea when it suffered uncontrolled water ingress. The tugboat would partially flood causing a list to starboard. The crew sent out a distress call with the Nigerian Navy responding. A gunboat would arrive on scene a short time later and evacuated the 10 crew off the Sema III. A dewatering pump was deployed which was able to control the water ingress. Reports state several crew members suffered from mild hypothermia. No further details reported.
