Victoria Trader

On October 2, the 166 meter long, 155334 dwt container ship Victoria Trader collided with an 1435 dwt chemical tanker near Ulsan, South Korea. The two vessels had bumped resulting in minor dents on the starboard side of the tanker and port side of the boxship. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Korean authorities dispatched investigators to the vessels. Reports state alcohol was not a factor in the collision.  Both vessels proceeded to Ulsan for further investigation into the incident.  The name of the tanker was not disclosed in the news reports.

The 88 meter long, 4161 dwt cargo vessel Vita became disabled in the Celtic Sea near Ushant,, France. The Vita was en route to Puerto de Pasajes from Bremen with 3500 tons of steel when it suffered engine failure and power blackout. The crew requested assistance with the French authorities dispatching a rescue vessel to the scene. The 80 meter long rescue ship Abeille Bourbon arrived on scene and took the Vita under tow.  The two vessels proceeded to Brest.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

On September 14, the 114 meter long, 3230 dwt cargo vessel Vita ran aground on the Svir River near Voznesenye, Russia. The Vita was en route to Priozersk from Petrozavodsk with a cargo of 2100 tons of logs. Initial attempts to refloat the vessel had failed with a tug and lighter dispatched to unload part of the cargo. No reports of injuries and no pollution released.
