On the afternoon of March 18, the 72 meter long, 2366 dwt cargo vessel Venture (IMO: 9030503) ran aground on the Elbe just  outside of Hamburg, Germany. The Venture had suffered engine problems and went adrift. The cargo vessel drifted until its stranded in shallow water. Authorities were alerted and dispatched multiple tugs to the scene. Reports state the tugs were successful and towed the Venture back to Hamburg.  No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

 

Vestvind

On the evening of March 2, the 130 meter long, 10238 dwt heavy lift vessel Vestvind (IMO: 9750579) allided in the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Vestvind was en route to Nakskov from Portsmouth when it entered the south lock at Brunsbüttel.  There the vessel struck the lock wall and and sustained minor damage. Two tugs were dispatched and towed the Vestvind out of the lock to Marinedalben Süd. No reports of injuries or pollution released.  Reports state the Vestvind was allow to proceed on its voyage the next day.

VA 23 K

On the morning of January 9, the fishing vessel VA 23 K sank in Kristiansandsfjord north of Grønningen Lighthouse, Norway. The fishing vessel had sprung a leak in the engine compartment which couldn’t be controlled. The VA 23 K  requested assistance with the local fire brigade dispatching a fire boat to the scene.  Attempts by the fire boat to de-water the fishing vessel failed and the VA 23 K sank.  No reports of injuries.
