Weser Stahl

On June 24, the 192 meter, 47257 dwt bulk carrier Weser Stahl became disabled on the Weser off Blexen, Germany. The Weser Stahl was proceeding up to Bremen when it suffered engine failure and went adrift. The disabled Weser Stahl was pulled by the river current when it struck the Blexen ferry pier. The Weser Stahl sustained only slight damage, but the pier was severely damaged. Reports state the bulk carrier was taken under tow over to a quay in Bremerhaven. Ferry service was suspended at Blexen. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 37 meter long, 43 dwt ferry Wavemaster 6 caught fire off Singapore.  The ferry was en route to Batam with 140 passengers when a fire started with a generator in the engine room. The fire spewed out dense black smoke which caused some panic among the passengers on board. The crew evacuated the passengers to the upper deck while they ventilated the passenger compartments.  The fire was quickly extinguished.  No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 70 meter long cargo vessel With Harvest ran aground in Luk Sound off Tysnes, Norway. The With Harvest was running under autopilot when it went aground onto the rocks.  The crew was able to pull itself free and proceeded to Leirvik. No injuries to the seven crew on board. The cargo vessel sustained damage to its ballast tanks, but no pollution was released.
