The Denver Fire Department received noticed that their Fire Boat No. 13 sank on Lake Norman while moored at berth. The vessel was found lying sunk on its starboard side. A salvage firm was called and was able to raise the fire boat. The vessel had leaked some oil pollution, but salvagers were able to contain and remove it. The fire boat will be pulled out of the lake to be repaired. Another fire boat was damaged by gunfire just prior to the sinking. Multiple Agencies are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Wakay Disabled
The motor vessel Wakay becamed disabled near the port of Basco, Batanes, Philippines amidst rough seas. The vessel was bound for Manila with cattle, empty gas tanks and recyclable plastic suffered engine problems and went adrift. The Wakay contacted the Philippine Coast Guard for assistance. Rescue vessels were able to reach the scene, but rough seas prevented getting close to the Wakay. The following morning a rescue vessel was able to secure a towline to the Wakay and brought the vessel to Basco Port. The Wakay is undergoing repairs.
Willem Antonia
The dredger Willem Antonia allided with the bicycle bridge on the Wilhelmina Canal at Dongen, Netherlands. The dredger became wedged when trying to pass under the bridge. The vessel was stuck for a few hours before it was able float free. The dredger continued on to Rotterdam while the bridge remains closed until an inspectation can be done for any possible damage. No reports of injuries or pollution being released.
