On January 22, the 45 meter long fishing vessel Final Answer (MMSI: 316027009) became disabled in the Gulf of Maine off the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. Limited reports state the lobster boat had suffered engine problems in heavy seas off Nova Scotia. The Canadian Coast Guard dispatched a rescue vessel to the scene and escorted the Final Answer back to port. No further details reported.

On the morning of January 21, the fishing vessel Quantum  ran aground in Pasagshak Bay approximately 2 miles offshore of Kodiak, Alaska. The Quantum was reported to be preparing for catching Pacific cod when the season opens on January 27 around Kodiak when it gran up on the rocks. The fishing vessel suffered hull damage and uncontrolled water ingress. The two crew members on board donned survival suits and alerted authorities for assistance.  The United States Coast Guard dispatched a MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to assist the crew.  The helicopter would arrive 90 minutes later and  hoist the 2 crew members to safety.  No reports of injuries.

The Quantum was last reported still stranded on the rocks. The Coast Guard is coordinating the salvage with the owner of the fishing vessel.

On January 21, the 24 meter long, 90 ton sailing yacht Acoa (MMSI: 232017725) went aground in the Balearic Sea near Playa de Marica, Costa de Los Pinos, Mallorca, Spain. The Acoa had been blown ashore by the strong winds from cyclone Harry with gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour. The Acoa sustained some hull damage as it stranded on a rocky shoreline and being worked by the strong surf.

An initial attempt to refloat the yacht had failed and further attempts will be only made if weather permits. Authorities have launched an investigation. Reports have asked why the sailing yacht was operating so close to the shoreline in such bad conditions. No reports of injuries.
