Ten Missing After Collision

The 45 foot long fishing vessel Dan Israel sank after being struck by a cargo vessel off El Fraile Island in Manila Bay, Philippines.   The wooden hull fishing vessel quickly broke-up and sank. The crew of the Dan Israel were thrown into the water.  Twelve crew were able either to swim ashore or were rescued from the water.   Many suffered from dehydration and exhaustion.  One crewman perished and another 10 men were still reported missing.  The survivors were unable to identify the cargo ship that struck.  The Coast Guard has launched a search and rescue operation for the missing men.  Authorities are looking for a large blue container ship which was in the area.  Reports state both vessels had lights and radar which should have prevented the collision.
