The 140 meter long ro-ro passenger ferry Wenatchee allided with the pier at Eagle Harbor, Bainbridge Island, Washington. Sailing on her normal schedule between Seattle and Bainbridge Island, the ferry failed to slow as it approached its berth. The Wenatchee struck hard enough to sustain a significant dent, but there was no damage to the pier. No reports of injuries or pollution released. The Wenatchee was taken out of service for repairs. Reports state there was a failure with a computer on board controlling the propulsion drive resulting in the allision.

The 188 meter long, 52994 dwt bulk carrier Star Zeta ran aground on the Parana River near San Pedro, Argentina. Headed to Cape Town, South Africa from San Lorenzo, the ran on to a mud bank. Local authorities dispatched divers to survey the vessel for damages. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released. Reports state salvage operations have begun while authorities investigate the incident.

On October 2, the 225 meter long, 75603 dwt bulk carrier Nordic Odyssey ran aground off Liepaja, Latvia. The Nordic Odyssey had departed from Liepaja with a partial cargo of grain when it grounded just outside the harbor. The next day the bulk carrier was refloated and proceeded to a nearby anchorage to be inspected for damage. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
