The 50 foot long fishing vessel Ms Nicani ran ashore off the Siuslaw River Bar  North Jetty at Florence, Oregon. There were no injuries to the two crew on board.  The Coast Guard is monitoring the situation and reported that there was no pollution concerns. Reports state a local tug has been contacted to begin salvage operations.

The 152 meter long, 21780 dwt cement carrier Divine Success caught fire while berthed in Tanjung Priok, Indonesia. The Divine Success had arrived from Sukabumi with a cargo of bulk cement when a fire started in the engine room. The crew alerted local authorities who requested three fire brigades to the harbor. Helped by two tugboats, the fire fighters were able to extinguish the blaze several hours later. No reports of injuries or pollution released.

The 117 meter long,  tanker Heng Yu 9 ran aground in Quanzhou Bay, China. The Heng Yu 9 had departed from Ningbo on September 14 with 6000 tons of naphtha.  As the tanker was attempting to shelter from Typhoon Meranti, it was blown aground. The tanker sustained damage to its cabin, anchor, and its steering. No reports of injuries to the 19 crew on board. Reports states the Heng Yu 9 had been at risk of capsizing, but the crew was able to keep the tanker upright by the time authorities came to their aid. The Heng Yu 9 was towed to the Jinjiang Quanzhou Oil terminal on September 16 where it unloaded its cargo of naphtha.  No reports of pollution released.
