On April 25, the 62 meter long, 1563 dwt cargo vessel Lago Icalma allided with the barge Rano Aroi II in Hanga Roa Bay, Easter Island. The Lago Icalma was at anchor when the barge Rano Aroi II arrived on scene to begin lightering operations.  The barge struck the against the Lago Icalma breaching the hull and rupturing a fuel tank. Diesel fuel was released into the water.  Local authorities arrived on scene and placed booms around the hull, but some pollution washed ashore.  Reports state absorbent materials were used to collect most of the diesel fuel from the shoreline.   The crew of the Lago Icalma transferred fuel from the damaged tank and was able to seal the breach.  No reports of injuries.

On April 21, the 175 meter long, 27348 dwt bulk carrier Rauli N allided with the large southern lock of the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany.  The Rauli N was headed for Bremen when its port stern struck the side of the lock wall.  The vessel hit with enough force to cause part of the masonry to collapse and fall into the lock. The Rauli N sustained hull damage including several large dents and a hull breach above the waterline. The water police allowed the Rauli N to continue on to Bremen where investigations into the incident will continued. Traffic on the lock was halted until response team can arrive on scene and begin repair work.

On April 19, the 110 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Admiral allided with a bridge over the Van Starkenborgh Canal near Groningen, Netherlands.  As the tanker-barge passed under the Tafel Bridge, the wheelhouse struck the bridge.  The wheelhouse was destroyed, but the master of the Admiral was uninjured. He was able to secure the vessel to the shore after the allision. Authorities were alerted and launched an investigation into the incident. Reports state the canal traffic was halted only a few hours during the investigation.
